9 months | "S" is for Shepard

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I know I'm late on this (again), but Shepard turned 9 months old on July 24! And he has made leaps and bounds in all of the new and fun "tricks" he can do! We say Shepard is kind of like a dog because he is learning all sorts of new tricks that we teach him. haha. For example, when we say, "say hi!" he waves hi with his hand. Or when we say, "high five!" he gives us a high five! Haha. It's so fun to see how he is becoming so much more aware of his surroundings, becoming much more interactive and mobile, and learning/understanding the world around him more and more every single day! And we just absolutely love him to a million pieces and more.

RECENT FAVES: (1) Shepard can wave hi and bye! It's the cutest thing. I love it. And I make him wave to me all day long. I can't get enough of it! (2) For some reason Shepard loves to bonk heads. If you say "bonk" he'll lean his head forward so he can bonk your head. It's a fun little game that he loves to play. And likes to play on repeat! haha. Bonk. Bonk. Bonk. :) (3) This little boy of mine is such a little tickle monster! One of my favorite times of the day is in the morning when he wakes up and I tickle him and he squeals and tries to crawl away as fast as he can all while laughing his cute little laugh. He also loves to wrestle Trav! One morning when I brought him in our bed before Trav was awake, Shep crawled over to Trav and said, "dada. dada. dada." and crawled on top of Trav until he woke up. He then did his cute little growl that he does when he wants to wrestle! Trav woke up and the two just wrestled and growled at each other in bed for a few minutes before Trav had to get ready for work, and you could tell that Shep was the happiest little boy in the world. He seriously loves his daddy more than anything - especially when they get to wrestle! (4) Shepard is still a speedy army crawler, but he has now learned to pull himself up on to our couch and take little steps. I bet he'll be walking anytime soon! (5) Shep loves, and I mean LOVES dogs. Whenever we are on a walk and see a dog he gets really excited and we have to stop and say hi to the dog and pet him. And it makes Shep so, so happy. He'll have a HUGE grin on his face the whole time. His favorite dog is Nana's (Trav's mom) dog, Sofi. Shep will just play and play with her and be as happy as a clam. He even tries to lick Sofi back when she licks him. haha. I think we just might need to get Shepard a dog for Christmas ;). (6) Shepard is ALL boy. He loves to play with his little football and any other ball he can get his hands on. He LOVES to wrestle (and growl) with his daddy. He loves to play with his toy cars. He loves dogs. He loves being outside and exploring. He loves when we take him on hikes in the mountains. etc. etc. etc. And he is the most handsome baby boy out there, I might add. ;) (7) One of mine and Trav's favorite thing to do is place something that can stay on Shepard's head and watch him wiggle his head around until the object falls off. I don't know why, but we just think it's the cutest thing in the world and do it all the time to Shep. And he thinks it's pretty fun to do too! It's the little things, right? (8) Shepard now associates me with "mama" and Trav with "dada". Usually "dada" is in a fun, peppy cheerful "let's play" kind of tone and "mama" is in an "I need something" kind of tone. haha. It's so cute and I love when he calls me mama. It melts my heart.

LITTLE NAUGHTIES: Sheppy has become quite the spunky little kid and is also developing some little naughty things that he loves to do and thinks is funny! (1) Since Shepard has sprouted his two bottom teeth he has become such a little biter! He loves to bite, and thinks its hilarious, and laughs when he does it. It's actually really cute. But naughty. haha. (2) Shep thinks it's really funny to spit out his food everywhere when he eats. He doesn't do it all the time, but there are times when he gets super messy because he thinks it's more fun to play with his food than eat it! Again, adorable but naughty. (3) Shep has the grabbiest little hands. He LOVES to grab hair. Like a lot. He is getting strong enough that he can actually pull hair out and won't let go once he has a nice strong grip! Such a little stinker pot. haha. But I love him all the same! The good and the naughty. :)
